Vincas Greene is a choreographer,
modern dance technique teacher,
and dance
educator based in
Spokane, Washington.

Authorized Merce Cunningham Technique® teacher.

VINCAS GREENE is an independent dance artist, the founding director of Vytal Movement Dance, an award-winning professor, and an authorized Merce Cunningham Technique® teacher currently working and developing the dance community in Spokane, WA. He currently teaches at the Vytal Movement Dance Space and Company Ballet School.

He has been featured in the magazine Art Chowder, as a Spokane artist in an edition of “Meet the Makers” by Spokane Arts, and will be in the upcoming edition of the 50 Faces Shaping Spokane. In Spokane, he continues his work as choreographer and teacher, film projects with director Juan Mas, theater choreography for Stage Left Theatre and Eastern Washington University, and most recently completed “Sometimes Chill” a new dance with composer Todd Milne for Vytal Movement Dance.

As the Chair for the Department of Dance at Brenau University, where he was a faculty member for 21 years, he led the university to full accreditation with the National Association of Schools of Dance. 

Vincas guest teaches nationally at colleges, high schools and private studios. He had the honor of being hosted as a master teacher at Nanyang Normal University in China. Working with Brenau University, the Gainesville Ballet Company, Theatre Ballet of Spokane, Belhaven University, Jacksonville University, Gonzaga University, University of Idaho, Santa Clarita Repertory Theatre, Pebblebrook Performing Arts High School and others, he has choreographed over 50 dances and six operas/theatre productions.  ​  

Vincas was privileged to perform dance works by Mark Morris, Merce Cunningham, and Jacques Heim (Diavolo). In his home state of Washington,
he performed in the companies of Erin Matthiessen and Long Nguyen and apprenticed with the Mark Morris Dance Group.  In New York, Vincas danced with Pat Catterson and Dancers and Peter Healey’s Mesopotamian Opera Company and received scholarships to study at the Merce Cunningham Studio. 

After moving to Atlanta, he danced with the Carl Ratcliff Dance Theatre and several other companies including the Gainesville Ballet Company, Robin Williams, the Ruth Mitchell Dance Theater and Susan Eldridge's Red Clay. He received his MFA from California Institute of the Arts where he was invited to dance in the CalArts Dance Ensemble. He has trained with notable dance artists Merce Cunningham, Mark Morris, Marjorie Mussman, Jocelyn Lorenz, Erin Matthiessen, Alex Magno, Kurt Weinheimer, Tina Yuan, Laurence Blake, Carl Ratcliff, Pat Catterson, Brenda Daniels, and Gerri Houlihan among many others.

Vincas was elected to the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD) Commission on Accreditation and served as a Visiting Evaluator for NASD and as a board member for Dance Upon Injustice. He has also written for Dance Informa.
